Your gifts provide childhoods for hundreds of Michigan kids each year.

The sun was shining, the sky was bright blue and the wind was blowing gently. You couldn't have asked for a better summer day. Out in the Village, a group of boys is playing basketball. A few more were riding bikes. Isaiah, an 11-year-old laying in the grass, with his hands under his head was looking at the clouds, just daydreaming.

The simplicity and beauty of this moment is as pure and innocent as any childhood should be. Despite the awful physical abuse and neglect he had survived, Isaiahhad found bliss and happiness in his new home at Methodist Children's Home Society.

This is what defines the life-changing work we accomplish at MCHS. Although we definitely have tough times, our days are filled with so many of these indelible moments— each one carrying the significance and weight of the responsibility we have to give our very best to the children at MCHS.

Each year, MCHS cares for hundreds of children who have survived the traumas of abuse and neglect and come to us searching for the chance for their childhood to begin. In 2017, 90 boys called our residential campus home, while another 80 boys and girls found safety with one of our foster families. Another 12 young men prepared for adulthood in our transitional living program, and 17 children found forever families through adoption.

Yet, the numbers only tell part of the story. Beyond three meals a day and a warm bed, we provide intensive therapy and support, life and social skills, education, medical services and everything in between to ensure our children overcome their past and reclaim their future. In so many ways, those numbers don't reveal the tears that turned into triumph or the barriers they've broken down on their road to a brighter tomorrow. More than anything, they can't even begin to measure the hope our children find as they begin to understand just how amazing they truly are.

We can't do it without the unwavering support of our community. From the passion and vision of our Board of Directors, volunteers and foster and adoptive families as well as all the donors who believe in us, we say thank you. Because of you, we aren't alone in our work.

Ultimately, Isaiah reminds us that the children at MCHS are still children; children who laugh and dance, jump and sing, and play and dream. No matter the pain and grief Isaiah and all of our children go through, MCHS and a sky filled of clouds and dreams are waiting for them. Thank you for working alongside us to fulfill those dreams!
